Surviving
business
staying sane in this business zoo
A weekly email where I can be transparent about the
of business & how this girlie is holding on for dear life.
real
Being a woman in business, especially a black woman in business is extremely rewarding... but my God it is sometimes equally exhausting. Don’t let them see you sweat. Make sure you’re the best. Never be in.a position where you have to depend on someone else. Build the table. Prove them wrong. Be a boss, but be soft. Oh, and don’t forget, you have to look good while you’re taking over the world.
I’M TIRED! This shit can be unforgiving, draining, scary, misleading and above all, lonely.
Prior to 2023, I had a fake perception of what “work-life balance” entailed. I thought it meant work really hard then enjoy a vacation or two. Rinse and repeat. But as I kept going, I still found myself burning out. I wanted my vacations to never end. I was dreading running a business I once loved so dearly. When things got rough in my business in 2023, I slipped into a depression.
You know what saved me and saved my business?
My tribe. My tribe consists of a few key essential people: my therapist, my besties and my business friends. They not only held space for me, THEY HELD ME. They nursed me back to health mentally and spiritually. They fed my soul and nurtured my heart. I was able to heal and in turn, fall back in love with my business and this entrepreneurship life!
I am blessed. I have solid friends in my circle who will hold me down in both my personal and professional life, even when they have no clue what I do for a living lol. I have a “therapist” who will coach me back to wholeness (but honestly she is more like a therapist, bestie, homegirl, sister, auntie, mentor, business and life coach wrapped up in one.) And I got a business tribe who is transparent and nonjudgmental holding space to share, troubleshoot, vent and problem solve.
All this means the world to me and I just want to bring that to every boss woman trying to be everything, but needing someone to fill their cup.
So for now, subscribe to my weekly newsletter, but here shortly we will be launching some things for this business girlies (and guysies too)!
